Try getting a guitar perfectly in tune. It argues back. Every instrument is a little wrong. I leave the B string a few cents down so one chord rings the way I want it to. Tune all of it perfect and the magic goes. Knowing which wrongness to keep is most of what I do.
The bend. The string that's out in just the right way. A painting as it starts to crack. The take that went somewhere I didn't plan. Pieces taken apart and put back as something I didn't expect. The accidents that land better than the plan. I keep those.
The new tools don't change any of that. They change where I stand. I'm further back now, running more of it at once, and the judgment is still the job. Everything I make gets made that way.
Lately the pieces have turned into companies: Preamp, onsomething, and Three Marks, the studio behind both. Same hands, same ear. The disciplines were never really separate.

The triangle in the middle is also the mark of onsomething. Once you start seeing it, you'll see it in other places too.
